Acupuncture for Seasonal Allergies

While there are many Western medications to treat the symptoms of seasonal allergies, these treatments can cause unwanted side effects, such as drowsiness and immune system suppression as well as an over-reliance on medications.

These side effects have drawn many people to search for an alternative approach, such as acupuncture and Oriental medicine to manage their allergies.

One study recently published in the American Journal of Epidemiology showed that acupuncture can significantly relieve allergic rhinitis symptoms.

Holistic Nursing: More Opportunities to Heal

Florence Nightingale was born nearly two hundred years ago, and her nursing insights are still in use today. In addition to her contribution of “environmental nursing”, in which she drove significant hygienic reform in hospitals, Nightingale was ahead of her time in her connection of the mind and body. One of the founders of what’s known today as a holistic approach to medicine, Nightingale recognized the importance of caring for the whole person. She was one of the first in Western medicine to encourage a patient’s preventative and self-care.

Tai Chi in the Mainstream

Tai Chi, a centuries-old Chinese exercise system, is making its way into the Western mainstream. In ancient China, Tai Chi was a closely guarded secret passed down from family to family. In the 19th century it was revealed to the masses and quickly became the national exercise of China. Today, Tai Chi is practiced as a therapy and preventative remedy for almost every ailment. Together with Qigong, Tai Chi holds a prominent place in Chinese medicine to relieve stress and clarify the mind.

Oriental Medicine Lays Insomnia to Rest

Insomnia is more than tossing and turning; it’s more serious than an inability to fall asleep early, and has more debilitating effects than are commonly recognized. Herbs go Downtown: New Herbal Medicine Clinic Launches in the Financial District at PCOM

Did you know that Pacific College’s New York campus offers a special Herbal Consultation shift on Wednesday mornings in our brand new clinic location in the Financial District? In keeping up with the growing national popularity of Chinese Herbs, patients who are interested in herbs for a wide variety of complaints can now access herbal treatments in Downtown NYC.

Chinese Herbs have been in the news recently, with Time Magazine and The Wall Street Journal both reporting on the growing trend of major medical institutions like The Cleveland Clinic incorporating Herbal Medicine into their offerings. You don’t have to travel to Cleveland to get a customized Chinese herbal formula though. While Chinese Herbal Medicine has always been available at the New York clinic, it’s only recently that patients have had an option to visit the clinic for Herbs as a stand-alone treatment (without acupuncture).

“Patients come for everything from dermatology to gynecology and from chronic fatigue to chronic headaches and stress,” reports Pacific College-NY Campus Director Malcolm Youngren.

“They appreciate having a natural and gentle healthcare option which has less side effects than many other healthcare options, when practiced under the supervision of a Licensed Oriental Medicine practitioner.”

Pacific College’s experienced East Asian medicine practitioners can work with you to determine the root causes of your medical complaints, and can develop an herbal treatment plan just for you. Effective, all natural, and highly personalized, Chinese herbal formulas are also affordable. Herbal shift appointments cost $26 plus the cost of the herbs. So, what are you waiting for?

Call our clinic today to set up your appointment for an ancient remedy tailored to your modern needs.
