The month of March may bring thoughts of four-leaf clovers, leprechauns, and the color green, but did you know that this month is also National Craft Month? With our continuous schedules, it’s hard to find time to sit down to handcraft something, but if you happen to find yourself with some free time, consider taking part in these DIY projects; perfect for the massage enthusiast and practitioners!
1. Reusable, Soft Cloth Face Cradle Cover
Whether a massage patient or practitioner, this is the perfect project for you! Create your own face cradle cover to bring with you to your massage session or provide to your patients. Add a personal touch by choosing a fabric pattern that represents your personality. For practitioners, we guarantee your clientele will appreciate the aesthetically pleasing and comfortable goodies that you incorporate into your practice.
A bolster pillow is wonderful because it can serve a number of purposes. Once you have completed your homemade bolster pillow, feel free to throw it on your bed or use it to accent your couch. When the time for your massage appointment comes, take it along with you for extra comfort.
A silky eye pillow is perfect for relaxation. You can stick your personal eye pillow in the freezer when you need a refreshing cool down or use it when your allergies start acting up. To the practitioners out there, eye pillows are a great way to enhance your patients’ massage experience!
4. Hip Holster for Massage Oil, Pen and Paper
This is a great DIY craft for massage therapists. With your handy hip holster, you won’t have to worry about having your hands full (considering they are already full for the majority of the time!). You can conveniently place your lotion or oil in the holster as well as other small items that may come in handy, such as cough drops (when you or your patient gets a tickle in their throat).
5. Lotion Bars
Handcrafted lotion bars are great to have in your bathroom at home or in your practice. They are a great form of aromatherapy and will fill the room with delightful scents!
If you decide to take on one of these DIY projects, such as the face cradle, make sure to bring it to your next massage appointment at one of our clinics ! We can’t wait to see your creative side!
Love,
Circulatory massage is the most common healing method used for enhancing the proper flow of blood through the entire body and providing relaxation to various muscles. This massage relaxes tensed muscles in the body and relieves stress thus improving the overall health of a person. Circulatory massage involves applying pressure (medium to deep), tension, vibration or motion to different parts of the body either with hand, arms or electronic massage devices. This massage was developed in Sweden and is now used in various parts of the world due to its unlimited benefits.
Circulatory massage therapy uses five different forms of massage strokes:
All of these strokes have proven effective in improving circulation in patients.
Circulatory massage is performed in a very comfortable and relaxing environment. A session may last for duration of 30 minutes to an hour depending on the patient’s needs. It is generally carried out in a calm and quiet place with soothing music, a comfortable treatment table, and soft lighting. At the start of the treatment, the massage therapist begins with the application of oil, gel or lotion to the skin as it facilitates smooth movement and reduces friction. In instances of patients with serious health problems, it is always advisable to consult a physician before carrying out this type of massage.
This therapeutic style of massage has several benefits when carried out properly. Apart from being very effective in relaxing the muscles and increasing the oxygen flow in the blood; this massage helps the lymphatic system to remove toxins from the body. It also helps in reducing pain and stiffness of joints, lowering blood pressure, alleviating headaches, aiding in stress, promoting speedy recovery from illness/injury, and providing greater flexibility. Circulatory massage has also proven beneficial in improving the mobility in patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis.
This specific form of massage is a relaxing and rejuvenating therapy that can work wonders and improve the strength and vitality of patients. If you would like to schedule an appointment with our clinic, don’t hesitate! We are here to help and heal you .

Calm and Relaxation…There’s an App for That.
In a world full of chaos, it’s nice to have an easily accessible resource to give us peace of mind—even if it’s only temporary. These days, most of us carry our smartphones with us everywhere we go. This constant contact with our phones pays off in the sense that there are a number of apps dedicated to promoting calm and relaxation for stressed out iPhone and Android customers.
Check out these apps:
Stress Tracker
Platform: Android, Apple iPhone and iPad (free)
The Stress Tracker app was created by a team of psychologists and researchers using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This app helps you to identify and relieve your daily pressures. You are able to track your moods and sources of tension to learn what makes you anxious. By identifying those moments, you can better deal with stressors and possibly end up avoiding them.
GPS for the Soul
Platform: Apple iPhone and iPad (free)
This particular app was created by Arianna Huffington and Deepak Chopra. You place your fingertip over the lens of your camera and your phone measures your heart rate and variability. The app takes the time to factor in your age, weight, and gender in order to display your stress level (indicated along a color line). It then offers you ways to help lower stress such as listening to calming music or viewing relaxing photos. GPS for the Soul also provides its users with a pacer to help regulate breathing.
Breathe2Relax
Platform: Android, Apple iPhone and iPad (free)
Breathing plays a crucial role in stress relief. Breathe2relax guides users through breathing exercises with clear and concise videos. Take advantage of your headphones and plug them in to inhale and exhale your way through a stressful situation.
Earthlapse
Platform: Android ($.99), iPhone 4S (and above) and iPad (2 or above): free
Earthlapse contains new-age sounding music that has a celestial feel. Pair the music with beautiful time-lapse photography of Earth captured by NASA and you’ve got yourself a little piece of heaven. The app allows users to control the speed of the images presented on the screen. Earthlapse is a perfect way to forget about the small things for a couple of minutes.
Deep Relaxation
Platform: iPhone (free)
This app teaches the
Silva Method
of relaxation, which involves “centering” yourself through meditation. You can freely choose between a 30 or 20-minute relaxation track depending on how much time you have to put aside. Each track is lead by a woman named Laura, who has a soothing and comforting voice.
Speaking of our attachment to our smartphones, open up your Facebook app and “Like” us! We appreciate the support!
